The scope of this policy

This Copyright Policy applies to all editing services offered through the it’s novel website, www.itsnovelinks.com and my profile through the Fiverr platform, www.fiverr.com/kchelse,  including but not limited to alpha reading, beta reading, chapter reviews, developmental editing, and character development. This Copyright Policy applies to all digital products offered through the it’s novel website, www.itsnovelinks.com, including but not limited to, the email subscription freebie, writing templates/trackers and writing templates/guides.

Ownership of services and content

• All intellectual property rights (including, but not limited to, copyrights, trademarks, patents, and trade secrets) in any of the services, digital products given away for free or sold, and any deliverables (such as feedback reports, designs, promotional content, content, software, code, or other work) shall remain the sole and exclusive property of it’s novel unless explicitly agreed otherwise in a separate written contract.

• Upon full payment for services rendered, I may grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the deliverables and digital products for their intended purpose, subject to any terms or restrictions outlined in the service agreement. This license is only valid for the duration specified in the agreement and is revocable upon breach of terms.

 

Restrictions on use

• You may not copy, distribute, modify, reverse-engineer, or resell any portion of the deliverables, services or digital products, in any way or format, provided by it’s novel without my prior written consent.

• If the deliverables or digital products include any third-party content (such as images, software, or other materials), you are granted only the rights provided by the third-party licenses. You are responsible for ensuring that any third-party content is used in accordance with the respective licenses.

 

Client-provided content

• You retain ownership of all content, materials, or intellectual property you provide to me for the purpose of delivering the agreed-upon services. I do not have any claim or ownership of your original work. By submitting such materials, you grant me the necessary licenses to use, modify, and incorporate these materials as needed to fulfil my agreed-upon obligations.

• I treat all submissions as confidential and do not share, reproduce, or distribute any of your original work, in any way or form, without your written permission.

• You are responsible for ensuring that the materials you provide do not infringe on any third-party intellectual property rights or violate any laws. You agree to indemnify and hold me harmless against any claims or damages arising from the use of your materials.

 

Edited content and suggestions

• Any edits, comments, and suggestions provided by me during the editing process of the respective services are considered part of that service and are licensed to you for use in your manuscript.

• You retain full copyright over your final manuscript, including any incorporated edits provided by it’s novel.

 

Third party content

• If your manuscript includes any third-party content (e.g., quotes, lyrics, images), you are responsible for ensuring proper permissions and licensing, and shall not hold it’s novel responsible nor liable for any misuse of third-party content.

• I do not verify or assume liability for third-party content included in your manuscript.

 

Client provided content, reviews and testimonials

• If you have purchased any of it’s novel’s services through the website, then unless I have your written consent, any content from your original work will not be used for any promotional or marketing purposes, nor will it be shared publicly.

• If you have purchased any of it’s novel’s services through the website, then unless I have your written consent, any comments or reviews privately exchanged will not be used for any promotional or marketing purposes, nor will it be shared publicly. 

• If you have purchased any of it’s novel’s services through my profile on Fiverr, then unless I have your written consent, any content from your original work will not be used for any promotional or marketing purposes, nor will it be shared publicly. 

• If you have purchased any of it’s novel’s services through my profile on Fiverr, then you are permitting me to use any comments, testimonials and/or reviews you share publicly on my profile for any promotional and marketing purposes.

 

Transfers of copyright

• As a reviewer and editor, I do not offer copyright transfers because I don’t own or create the original content you provide me with.

• My role is strictly editorial, and all rights remain with you as the writer and author of the original work.

 

Copyright infringement

• If you believe your copyrighted work has been used improperly on my platforms, please contact me at itsnovel@hannieonline.co.za with the following information:

  • Your name

  • A description of the copyrighted work

  • The location of the alleged infringement

  • A statement of good faith belief and proof of ownership

• Or you may complete a complaint form here, detailing the alleged copyright infringement.

• I reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to any services, deliverables and digital products at any time, without prior notice, if you violate the terms of this policy. 

• Upon termination, all licenses and rights granted to you under this Copyright Policy will cease with immediate effect. You must cease all use of the deliverables and return or destroy any copies of the deliverables and/ or digital products in your possession immediately.
